Survival tips for the red moon week

Dear Reader,

This post was motivated by my stomach ache, as well as the sensation that reminds me every month that I am, in fact, a woman.

I was a ball of emotions and food cravings yesterday. I won't claim to know how to defeat them, but I can provide you some advice on how to manage them.

Before I go any further, I'd like to ask you a question: do you listen to your body?

Actually, I rarely do and it wasn't until things went south that I took notice of things. This is particularly awful because we all have limited willpower, and I used the majority of mine to "Will" myself to forget about the pain and then be shocked about how neglected I felt afterwards. How can we expect a man to understand us when we spend so little time attempting to understand ourselves? We have a whole society educating us how a woman should feel and act. That's a discussion for another day, but I hope you realize what you're doing to yourself.

As a student, I derive dopamine from the quality of my study time.

So, on such difficult days, I start with the simplest task to gain momentum. I use the ticktick app, which is a to-do list tool, has been quite beneficial to me. If I cross one item off that list, I'll be done.

Although, this isn't easy because the hardest task is to get started. I'd suggest checking out 5 second rule, 2-min rule and eating the frog techniques. They are quite effective (3.5/5) on your worst days.

Second, eat well; whenever I'm feeling down, I fantasize of biriyani; if you're one of my close friends, you already know this and are laughing. Anyway, if you eat unhealthy food while your PMS is raging, there is a high chance you will become bloated, from experience this is not a pleasant sensation. You might try creating a flavorful dish at home, which has saved me money on numerous occasions and also serves to divert me from discomfort. Keep your favorite food on hand if you don't like to cook.

I was told to write down my emotions, and while I didn't do so, I can confirm to how satisfying it is to write, as I compose this blog. We all have varying pain thresholds and pain remedies, and being aware of them is half the battle won.

Perhaps you already know this, but just in case, have a cup of tea, go for a stroll, do some youtube pain-relieving exercises, make a hot water bag your cuddle companion, a warm shower goes a long way, and you can have medicine on hand if things go too bad.

I recognize that, while I can offer advice on what to do, it is quite tough for us to persevere when we are feeling down. So, if you need assistance, ask for it; your family and friends would gladly assist you. Also, remember to observe when they are having difficulty and extend the same courtesy.

That's all for this week, I hope you had a fun easter holiday.

Ciao Ciao.

Sincerely, Lykha
